Product Description
Description: This popular calendar features colorful oil paintings which are inspired by the artist Jonathan Green's experiences growing up in the Sea Islands of South Carolina. His talent as an artist was recognized early and he was encouraged to study art. After a stint in the Air Force, he enrolled at East Grand Forks Technical Institute in Grand Forks, Minnesota, and he received his BFA degree in 1982 from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Mr. Green's work, a historical documentation of the people and lifestyles of southeast South Carolina, are on display at galleries in Chicago and New York and in the permanent collections of museums in Washington D.C.; Savannah, Georgia; and the Afro-American Museum of Philadelphia. Jonathan Green has received awards for artistic and cultural contributions. He has illustrated two children's books, Father and Son, published in 1992, and Noah's Ark, published in 1994. Gullah Images was published in 1996 by the University of South Carolina Press. We also offer an Art of Jonathan Green Desk Diary featuring Jonathan's beautiful work. Notes: This is one of our best-selling calendars. Jonathan's colorful imagery appeals to all cultures but his ethnic background makes this title especially appealing to African American groups and galleries.
